The Cantori da Verméi were born in the heart of Val di Sole, in Vermiglio, among the peaks and traditions of the Trentino Alps. The group came to life in the late 1990s from ethnographic research conducted by Alberto Delpero, with the intention of rediscovering, preserving and giving voice to the oral tradition of Alpine folk singing.
Since 2008, under the guidance of ethnomusicologist Renato Morelli, the project has been consolidated, expanding the repertoire and refining a powerful, raw, authentic vocal style: mountain polyvocality, with “throat” emission, expressive intensity and archaic harmonies.
